Installing Smart Defrag

You can download Smart Defrag here.  Internet Explorer will give you a choice of RUN or SAVE; choose RUN.  The other major browsers will automatically Save the file when you click the link, either to your desktop or to your Downloads folder; whatever, navigate to the saved file, and double-click to Run it.  Accept all the defaults; e.g., click on Next  »  accept the license agreement  »  Next  »  Next  »  Next  »  Next  »  un-check I Agree To Install the IOBit Toolbat  »  Next  »  Install  »  un-check View What's new.txt  »  Finish.

The program will run fine as initially installed; it will run faster and more efficiently with the following tweaks:

• Smart Defrag should be running from the Install process; if not, start it:  Start  »  All Programs   »  Smart Defrag  »  Smart Defrag.
• Click on the Options icon.
  • Remove all check marks except  Enable SmartSilent Technology...
    • If you're installing to a laptop, also leave  Stop Defrag While Using Battery...  checked
  • Click on  Apply
• Click on the Schedule icon.
  • Remove all the check marks.
• Click on the Auto Defrag icon.
  • Remove the check mark next to  Enable Auto Defrag .
  • Click on  Apply
• Close Smart Defrag.
